PEEK-A-BOO SMORES ORNAMENT
Thanks for joining me on my first "Get Kids Crafty" blog hop! Woo hoo! Our theme this month is Smores! To get in the mood we started out by making a quick smores snack mix. We combined teddy grahams, marshmallows and chocolate chips. It was yummy!
Once our tummies were happy we were ready to get started on our ornaments! I love kids ornaments with their pictures on them so I had to figure out a way to incorporate a picture into the ornament. I decided to make a little peek-a-boo window in the back.
Maddie did really well with this project! The only thing I really had to help with was cutting out the picture and the holes in the craft foam ( the size of the tea lights) and the glue gun and tape. she did everything else herself! She felt really proud to be able to do it herself!
Supplies:
small cup
lids with straw holes
mini battery tea light
white acrylic paint
craft foam 3in x 3in squares
googly eyes
sharpie
ribbon
childs photo
tape
scisors
glue
Before letting her paint the cup, I made a little square with take so we would end up with a window in the back. once that was done she got started painting. while she did that I cut holes int the craft foam so that the tea light would fit inside. I also cut out her picture. once she was done painting and it dried, she peeled off the tape we put on the cup, then taped her picture inside the cup. Then she drew a mouth on the and she glued the eyes on the front
When she was done decorating the cup all she had to do was put it together. Maddie went a little crazy making dots on the top cracker. haha!we attached some red cord to the top prior to gluing the top on the cup. She attached the bottom layer of chocolate (dark foam) and cracker (light foam). I secured all of the foam to the cup with glue. Then her ornament was ready for the tree!
We hung it up right next to her sisters snow globe ornament from last year.
